I am requesting an endorsement from Hays County Dems because I share the same values to protect and stand up for marginalized and targeted community members. I believe that we have to create policy and social change to provide safety nets and ensure that everyone is fairly represented in our city. We are at a crossroads at a time when more progressive issues need to come forward to place a stop to failed republican and MAGA policies that treat people like they have no value simply because of where they come from or what they look like. With the help from the Hays County Young Dems I believe we can make my race competitive and let everyone know that we must vote for Democrats that will defend our values and principles and promote equity and inclusion for everyone.

My background is that I am a first generation to achieve an advanced science doctorate, my family is indigenous and from parts of Mexico where we come from farmers and builders. I had family members that were in politics and worked to improve water plants in Nuevo Leon. When my parents brought me to Kyle, I was 3 years old, so I grew up in Kyle and Uhland and attended Hays CISD. I saw a lot of adversity growing up and discrimination and observed my parents struggle for the American Dream. I did my best in school to try and help my family and community to become a Scientist and Innovator. I took risks all my life and financially was able to invest and end up making a few opportunities that helped me to be in a better position. This helped me to support my family and then I started wanting to give back my experience and advocate for education and businesses for startups for minorities in sciences. I served on council where I helped to advocate for the eastside of Kyle by helping its residents get better park features and road improvements. I worked as a leader to try and improve the commercial base on the eastside because that area is lacking in community resources. Being a Latino and fluent Spanish speaker, I feel it is important for me to be a good example for my community and help the next generation of leaders get into politics and positions of leadership so that we can break the cycle of stereotypes and negativity surrounding our communities in education and low voter turnout.

I would like to work with council to hire a true city manager and transportation director, these positions are essential to make sure the city completes 2022 road bond projects efficiently and on time. Kyle needs a city manager that is looking at how to make the future better for Kyle and build connectivity and help council plan for the future growth. Without a city manager, the city will only be collecting property tax, and this will make Kyle more unaffordable for the most vulnerable community members. I would also like to work with council to bring in a professional parks and recreation department that can write grants and get funding to improve and build better parks for Kyle and possibly the addition of a new indoor recreation center and second library on the east side of Kyle. Third Kyle still needs a best practice animal adoption center and a major grocery store on the east side of Kyle. I would work with development and economic departments to bring in a major grocery store to provide essential services to marginalized communities. The fourth major thing Kyle needs is to continue the Vybe trail network east and west and revitalize downtown with small and large businesses. Each year that the downtown is not revitalized is more time and resources that city taxpayers are losing by not collecting sales tax revenue.

Yes, because it is important for tenants to know and understand their rights and that landlords do not take advantage of them. I recently asked a tenant if I could place a yard sign at their house and the tenant told me they needed to check with the landlord. I told them that it is there first amendment right to vote or support anyone they wanted but I think the tenant was scared to cause any trouble with the landlord. Our society moves forward when groups and associations are formed and are able to advocate for their rights and dignity. Unions are always targeted by folks in power because they know that when people organize and are parts of unions that it is harder to get away with breaking rules or the law.

Yes, rent is increasing each year because some landlords are passing the cost of increased property taxes onto the tenants. I would work with council to ensure that enough variety of houses are single or two bedrooms and are affordable as starter homes for new families or renters. The city can work with development agreements to set aside housing that is below market value to help work force housing or students live in new communities. When I served on council, we diversified our housing market so that mixed use development would get rooftops but a portion of them had to be for fixed income families.

Yes, definitely, Southside Community Center does so much to help our underserved, homeless, and marginalized community members. The center does the work with good intentions and with open hearts by providing food, resources, baths, and a safe place to live temporarily. I always requested for funding for Southside community center, and I always was disappointed when other council members saw this as giving away money to charity. I see this as a service and something that we need more of and to be compassionate about helping our community. I heard that Kyle had a park ordinance and camping ordinance put in place by elected officials to keep people from camping and sleeping or pan handling in our city. I felt this was cruel and mean spirited and was told that Kyle didn't want to become like Austin. I always felt that we spend alot of money on crime and not enough on humanitarian resources or education for our less fortunate community members. If I get elected to council, I will make funding the Southside Community Center one of my priorities as I did before.

Yes, I support continued buildout of the Vybe and was one of the first elected officials to go out and build trails for the Vybe. The Vybe will connect east and west and allow residents to be able to safely walk, ride bicycles, and other battery vehicles that will reduce car congestion. It is also an investment in our communities by creating a shared path to retail areas and sidewalks that everyone can use to stay healthy and enjoy being outside. This is great for personal mental health and for families to have something to do on weekends and after work. The Vybe will also connect all the local parks and connect to larger networks outside of Kyle so this is great for the entire Hays county. We have to build the Vybe safely across IH35 so that more people will use it and enjoy the outdoors in our city.

ICE is cruel and inhumane because the intent is to create chaos and fear and scapegoat communities of color and minorities. I do not support local police supporting ICE agents, the ICE agents are shooting people and killing innocent people simply to detain and deport them. This is not what Latinos signed up for, Trump is not deporting the worst of the worst, we have been lied to, and it is terrorizing Latino communities, schools, and families. ICE needs to be stopped, and ICE agents need to be arrested for violating civil rights and the constitution. I have spoken up against ICE and against MAGA trump supporters, my opponent is a MAGA republican that attended a photo opportunity with MAGA Mays a Trump endorsed candidate. My opponent also went to a Trump impersonator forum for the republican party; I have let all democrats know about Medina and Trump association. To my Latino community I have been vocal that we must use our vote to remove all Trump MAGA supporters from office because ICE is destroying our society and this is not what we want. We can have a safer immigration and border policy but killing people and hurting undocumented immigrants and placing them in detention camps is unacceptable.

No we need to get flock out of Kyle. end the contracts and use that extra money to support prevention programs, food banks, shelters, and schools. As a community we cannot continue to fund a technology that is proven to violate warrantless searches and used to target communities of color and minorities. Flock and other surveillance agencies are sharing information and will be using it for mass deportations that will break up families and create a police state big brother. We don't need to keep funding these abuses of civil liberties and we have many nonprofits struggling for basic essentials, we need to prioritize where we spend our tax dollars. Get the Flock out!

I would make it harder for data centers to come in the city or ETJ, the data centers do not create jobs and waste a lot of water, electricity, and make noise and harmful to the environment. I have placed no data center signs around Kyle, I have made post hashtags no data centers and I have researched and watched other cities create bans on data centers. Out of all the candidates running for office I have been the most public against data centers, and my opponents husband works for Data centers is what I've been told by trusted sources.

I would support investment in water recovery and underground storage. I would put Kyle into a long-term partnership with ARWA and desalination from Corpus Christie. I would promote more funding for water conservation from the State of Texas. Kyle would also have a drought restriction and require development to bring its own water to build its own infrastructure. When I served on council, we had increased capacity of storage tanks and invested in bringing 3-6 million gallons per day and that number was going to increase more each and every year. We also increased impact fees and lane fees on development to ensure that taxpayers were not going to be burdened by more housing. I would like to work with council to stop Data Centers and large water users from coming into our city and protect our resources and green spaces with smart growth.

Yes, many civilians and children are being killed in the Gaza strip, many reasons behind this are geopolitical to displace the Palestine people and commercialize the ocean properties around the areas.
